Inspiration for our Peru projects came from the initiative of a KE leader - Val Pitkethley who had been visiting Peru for many years and has many friends in the remote mountain areas she has trekked through. Val decided that she would like to give something back to these local communities and to assist the local people who have now become friends! For the past 5 years, Val and her team have installed over 600 solar panels in many remote villages in the Huayhuash region of Peru.
