The Ngayur Sangacholing School in Payung village only 45
minutes walk from Kalimpong
requested funding from the Juniper Trust to build an additional classroom in
their expanding School. This school is
run by local monks and owned by the Ringpoche Ngawang Hochok. The school is ambitious and hopes eventually
to have up to 32 classrooms to cater for the growing number of pupils wishing
to attend. The Juniper Trust has donated £1000 for the construction of one
classroom.
20th April 2007
Students from King Edward VI Five Ways School in Birmingham England just returned from a KE
School Trip to the Singalila Ridge in India. During their adventure, the group
visited the school construction project at Kalimpong an
important bazaar town for traders from Sikkim, Bhutan, Tibet and the plains of
Bengal. The students got out paintbrushes to add finishing touches to the newly
built classrooms and help clear the ground for the foundations of the main
school building. The British students had quite an experience meeting and
working along side the local children of Kalimpong.
We are waiting for a request for funds to complete the project.
