Chogoria School Project 2009
Gitare Primary is a 25-year-old school,
which teaches pupils from 6-12 years of aged.
In the past the school has had assistance from a local Methodist church
with improvements, but it is very run down and badly needs attention. The school is currently funding electricity
to the school via donations from parents and the classrooms need considerable
improvements and new equipment. The
school is also seeking to raise funds to build a library/computer room. The
teachers are paid by the govt (all teachers are) and 90% of the existing
facilities have been built from parent’s donations and the Methodist church
assistance.
Juniper Trust propose to raise funds initially for a school facelift of existing facilities, to fit rain guttering, paint the existing classrooms and provide new benches and desks - Total cost £800. Phase 2 will be to build a new library/computer room - Total cost £6000 and finally, tphase 3 will be to provide help with a long-term teacher training programme and to develop teaching skills.
Alderley Edge School, form Cheshire (U.K.), plan to visit Chogoria School in July and August 2009 and hope to raise enough money to cover phase 1 & 2.
