Pakistan - Flood Appeal - Talis Village
Exceptional flooding on Aug 7th, caused by heavy monsoon rains, destroyed 25 houses and damaged a further 100 in the village of Talis in Baltistan, leaving many people injured and homeless. There were several fatalities, including a teacher who was swept away whilst gathering wood near the river in the village of Khalplu, lower down the valley.
Turbulent rivers caused severe damage to livestock, crops, orchards and bridges In Khaplu, the floods destroyed 14 houses and damaged many others including a mosque. Elsewhere, the district administration had to evacuate the entire village of Rama Tolti and in the Sheoke Valley villagers were moved to higher ground for safety.
There are several villages in Balistan in desperate need of help before the arrival of winter.
