Nepal
Adarsha Bal Vikas Kendra School Project
ABVK, (Adarsha Bal Vikas Kendra) is a school for physically and mentally handicapped children in Banepa, a small town about twelve miles east of Kathmandu, Nepal. The school is run by Mani Shrestha and has about 45 children and older students with severe learning difficulties and physical handicaps. JT have raised £5000 to support a new Physiotherapy unit at the school and hoping to continue to support this very worthwhile project. More details
Chobar School for Orphaned Children
In 2012, with the help of Jersey College, JT have raised $4,500 (£3000) to fund the rebuilding of a supporting wall which was washed away during the summer monsoon rains and to provide a new kitchen and sleeping accommodation to help cater for the intake of 14 orphaned children. JT is now trying to raise $6000 (£4500) to support the current intake of orphans for one year. More details
Kenya
Gitare Primary School, Chogoria, Kenya
Alderley Edge School for Girls, in Cheshire England , is trying to raise all of the £11,250 needed to build a new library/computer room, as well as carrying out a facelift of existing facilities, to fit rain guttering, paint the existing classrooms and provide new benches and desks. So far, thay have raised £10,292.77. Alderley Edge will spend 4 days at the school as part of their educational trip and trek in July 2012. More details
Pakistan
Asumbar Village School %u2013 Ishkoman
JT is trying to raise $7000 (£4,500) to build a new school in the village of Asumber, which lies in a remote valley in Ishkomen, Northern Pakistan. There is no school at present and the children are being taught in the house of the local teacher. It is hoped that once the school is built, other children from nearby villages will also attend th school. We have raised £2500 for the foundations, which was sent before the onset of winter and work will continue in the spring. More details
Baltistan Teacher Training
This an educational development and improvement programme, run by the Felix BaltistanFoundation (FBF), supporting schools within the Hushe Valley. There are 28 schools between the 8 villages in Hushe and initially there will be a survey of all the schools to assess their facilities and to determine what support is required. The overall aim of the scheme is to provide teacher training programmes and ongoing support for the schools in Hushe. More details
