New wash rooms and bedrooms at the Lingshed Hostel, Leh (July 2008).
The Juniper Trust has now completed five projects in India. In 2006, work was finally completed on a complete rebuild of Congress School in Darjeeling, Solar Panels were installed in a remote village in Spiti in northern India, Loughborough School helped with a new classroom at Bagsu Nag School in Dharamsala and King Edwards School also helped with building a new classroom at Ngayur Sangacholing School in Kalimong.
The big project during 2007/8 took place at the Lingshed Hostel in Leh, which provides home from home care for children aged between 5 - 15 years old who come to Leh from the remote Lingshed area of Zanskar.
In conjunction with KE Adventure Travel, $4000 was donated in November 07 to enable the Hostel in Leh to remain open for the winter. Then during 2008, $30,000 was provided for the installation of a water bore and pump, solar panel units, an upgrade of electrics and to build a separate washing block with toilets and additional sleeping rooms (see Lingshed Project).
